Open Mellon A.E. participates as a partner in the project “PROTHESS: Adapting Thessaly’s Vulnerable Agriculture to Climate Change”.
The overall aim of the proposed Action is to contribute to controlling field inputs — in particular by reducing irrigation water consumption by at least 30%, as demonstrated by recent applications — as well as to reducing soil and groundwater pressure and pollution, protecting the environment and the ecosystem, lowering production costs, increasing yields, raising farmers’ income, and establishing new digital technologies in agriculture.

The partnership consists of: Open Mellon — Education, Consulting & Business Incubator A.E.; the University of Thessaly — School of Engineering, Department of Planning and Regional Development, Laboratory of Environmental and Spatial Planning; the Agricultural University of Athens — Laboratory of Agricultural Hydraulics (Coordinating body); General Aeronautical Applications S.A.; the Larissa Farmers’ Agricultural Cooperative “I NEA ENOSI” (“The New Union”); Evangelos Brisimis; and AGROSYMVOULI O.E..
Within the project, Open Mellon A.E. is responsible for:
- As INNOVATION BROKER, optimising communication between research bodies and businesses operating in the agricultural sector, to ensure the successful implementation of the innovative solutions proposed by the Action among end users — production entities.
- Organising, in collaboration with the other partners, dissemination, communication, and networking activities.
