Open Mellon A.E. participates as Coordinating Partner in the project “Nitreos Aquatic: Estimating the Actual Nitrogen Needs of Rice Cultivation Using Earth Observation Data, to Reduce Nitrogen Leaching and Surface Runoff and Protect the Aquatic Environment”.
The aim of the Project, which is being implemented on farms in the Region of Central Macedonia, is to use the NITREOS electronic platform to achieve targeted nitrogen supply for rice crops, more accurate distribution of nutrients, more effective plant nutrition, and environmental protection through reduced nitrogen leaching.

The partnership consists of: Open Mellon — Education, Consulting & Business Incubator A.E. (Coordinating partner); Agricultural Applications I.K.E. (AgroApps); ELGO-DEMETER / Institute of Soil and Water Resources; and the Producer Group Agricultural Enterprises of Mikro Monastiri B’ I.K.E..
Within the project, Open Mellon A.E. is responsible for:
- Designing and implementing the project's publicity actions.
- Organising promotional and communication events on the project's subject matter and its results.
- Training farmers and agronomists on how to use and make the most of the technologies applied during the project.
