As part of the project “Nitreos Cotton – Production of standardized cotton using an integrated NITREOS precision agriculture system”, the final event of the project took place on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the facilities of TOEB Mikrou Monastiriou.

The project aims to improve fertilization and irrigation practices in cotton production systems on farms in the Region of Central Macedonia, through the provision of appropriate digital tools in the form of an integrated application that collects and processes time series of satellite images to assess the nutritional needs of cotton cultivation.

The corporate scheme includes as partners ELGO DIMITRA / Institute of Soil and Water Resources (Coordinating Partner), AgroApps IKE, Open Mellon – Education – Consulting – Business Incubator SA, and the Producer Group Agricultural Enterprises Mikrou Monastiriou G’ IKE.

During the event, a presentation of the project was made, and the implementation steps and the utilization of data collected through the platform were described in detail. This data, combined with satellite images, allows for the evaluation of spatial variability and the definition of management zones.

Furthermore, extensive reference was made to the results obtained, which include the provision of appropriate digital tools at a highly affordable cost for optimizing fertilization and irrigation practices in cotton production systems. Finally, participants had a very interesting discussion regarding the application of precision agriculture techniques to reduce inputs and production costs. The ultimate goal of all efforts is to enhance the environmental awareness of producers and implement measures to maintain crop robustness, improve quantitative and qualitative production, and protect natural resources.
